French Christmas Concert
January 10th, 2012 by The Web Team · 1 Comment · Special Event
On Thursday December 15th,2011 Helen Nicole came to H.C.E.S once again. This time the theme of her show was Christmas. We sang Christmas songs, and did quizzes. During the show they drew names from a hat and whoever’s name was drawn got to go up and get a prize. Pere Noel ( Santa Claus) came and Bonhomme de Neige (Frosty the Snowman) played by Casey in Mrs. McGinnis’ class. We sang songs, at the side of the gym. There was a big screen that showed the words to all the French songs we sang.
Mme. Cole got to dance with the French Santa for the song “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus.” She got kids doing lots of activities up at the front of the gym.
Thank you for coming Helen Nicole.

Hoedown Day
December 13th, 2011 by The Web Team · No Comments · School News, Special Event
On Friday, December 2nd, 2011 H.C.E.S got in their western day spirit for Hoedown Day. There was a Barn dance for grades 5 up to 8, where only Country music was played. There was line dancing, and the Hoedown Throwdown by Miley Cyrus. Everyone looked great in their western attire. The grade eights planned line dances and the taught them to the rest of the students who went to the gym. There were spot dances where everyone was up dancing and when the time was up the person in the spot (that Mrs. Hill drew from the hat) would win a prize. The grade eights really appreciated everyone who participated. What was your favourite part of the Hoedown day, and if you went to the dance what was your favourite part? Leave us a comment.
The Vow of Silence

On Wednesday November 30th, 2011 the grade eights in Mr. Monck’s class and any other interested teachers and students participated in the Vow of Silence. They went without talking for a whole day or less. They did the Vow of Silence for awareness about child labour. Pledges were accepted, and the money for the pledges went to a Clean Water Program. The grade eights raised lots of money. Thanks to everyone who supported this fundraiser. .jpg)
Christmas Cards
December 9th, 2011 by The Web Team · No Comments · Uncategorized
Christmas is arriving soon and Mr.Monk’s and Mrs. Hill’s classes have been getting ready for the holidays by making cool Christmas cards! These cards are made by students in both classes. The cards are different colours and many different designs. The Christmas cards are for sale. This is a fundraiser for the grade eights’ trip to Ottawa at the end of the year. We hope you buy a set of cards because the grade eights worked really hard to make them. They put a lot of pride and effort into the cards.

Gift Basket Raffle
December 6th, 2011 by The Web Team · No Comments · Special Event
At H.C.E.S. we started something new… a gift basket raffle. Each grade has a different theme for their gift basket (a note should have gone home with your child). We are asking kids to bring in items that support their grade’s theme. Each grade group will put their items in a basket. The basket will be on display at the front foyer. Parents are encouraged to buy a ticket to win a basket. A name will be drawn. You may be a lucky winner and receive the basket.
